The Raven Barracks
(Chapter 2)
Scenario 2: The Raven Barracks
The armoury of the Raven Barracks (formerly home to Mordheim’s city watch) is sealed behind heavy, steel-barred doors. The key was under control of the former watch captain, Hugo Verteidiger, who has been missing since the Doom. Which is why rumours of the armoury doors being found unlocked came as a surprise to everyone.
Brigandsburg leader, Luigi Stiletto (the former deputy captain of the watch), calls out for ready warbands to act as a vanguard while he musters his watchmen to secure the barracks. Cutthroat’s Den Don, Zlatan Anastazia, meanwhile requests warbands to scout the area and will pay for anything of value relieved from the armoury. Warbands arrive to find several looters in the area dragging bags or crates of plunder with them.

A race across the table to secure loot markers.

What You Need For The Game
Settlements
Brigandsburg & Cutthroat’s Den
Reward Brigandsburg
1 sword for each secured loot marker + 1 Loyalty Point to Brigandsburg if you win the game.
7 gold crowns for each secured loot marker + 1 Loyalty Point to Cutthroat’s Den if you win the game.
Reward Cutthroat’s Den
Build the Raven Barracks touching one table’s edge. The walls of the barracks form a roughly rectangular courtyard taking up take up much of one side of the table. If you do not have wall terrain, place ruined buildings together to represent the walls (which need not be fully intact) and structures connected to them. Inside the walls is a relatively open courtyard.
Terrain (urban)
Place a building, the Armoury, touching the table’s edge that is within the courtyard of the Raven Barracks. Other smaller elements (like a hangman’s platform or outhouse) can be placed within the courtyard or touching the barrack walls if you wish.
Next place one Loot Marker in the center of the courtyard and one in each of the courtyard’s four corners. In order of warband ratings lowest to highest, players then take turns placing the remaining 2 loot markers anywhere in the Raven Barracks.
Fill the rest of the table outside the barrack walls with Mordheim terrain normally.
In a two player game deployments zones are the two 8”x8” corners of the table’s edge opposite the Raven Barracks. If there are 3 warbands, place three 8”x8” deployment zones directly in the center of each of the three table’s edges outside the Raven Barracks. Warbands deploy normally.
Deployment
Random Fortune
No random fortune in this game.
Weapon Droppings: the vagabonds which were looting the armoury placed their plunder into sacks, barrels, and crates for transport. The looters which were still within the barracks when warbands arrived did not believe they could escape with their prizes (or lives!) and so dropped their booty and fled. Loot Markers in the barracks represent these discarded arms & equipment. Loot markers are carried items. A loot marker can be transported off any table’s edge* to secure control of it for your warband. The warrior doing so cannot return to the battle, but is not considered to be out of action.
*One exception: you may not leave the table from within the Raven Barracks.
The Chapter Goal of the scenario is discovered with one of the loot markers. This is resolved after the game end between all warbands that secure at least 1 loot marker.
Special Rules
Dispatch from the Captain: Any warrior that comes into base contact with the armoury reads the message painted onto the wall above the propped up fresh corpse of a former Mordheim watchman:
“By SIGMAR’S hammer! Traitors will find no PEACE in any GARDEN but Morr’s. I’m coming for you!”
If you are using the optional rules for Side Quests, coming into contact with the armoury earns an objective to the Verteidiger’s Revenge Side Quest for your warband. Warbands can only earn 1 objective to this side quest in this scenario.
Warriors reading the message are later sent a threat from an unknown source. If you are also using the optional rules for Bounties, each warrior that came into base contact with the armoury gets the Stop Poking Around-bounty placed upon their heads.
Starting the Game
Determine order of play normally.
The battle is over when there is only one warband left on the table. The winning warband is the one which controls the most loot markers at the end of the game. If this is tied no one wins the battle (no Loyalty point).
Note, all warbands earn rewards for the loot crates they control regardless of whether they won or lost the game. All loot crates must be returned to the same settlement of your choice. A winning warband earns loyalty to the settlement they return loot to.
Ending the Game
+1 Survives
+1 to the Winning Leader
+1 Per Enemy Out of Action
+1 to any Hero that reads The Dispatch from the Captain
Experience
The Chapter Goal turns out to be inside one of the loot crates which a warband takes notice of and keeps for themselves. At the end of the game after recovery of uncontrolled carried items, every warband which controls at least 1 loot marker rolls a D6 and adds the number of loot markers their warband controls. The player who gets the highest result finds the chapter goal for their warband. If there is a tie for highest roll, those players roll again until someone scores highest.
The warband which secures the chapter goal will earn an additional reward once all scenarios in chapter 2 have been played.
